Scottish Learning Festival – SLF 2014 – dates for your diary
 
SLF 2014 will take place on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 September in the SECC, Glasgow. Further information about plans for next year’s event will be available on the SLF website  in due course. You can watch the keynote presentations from SLF 2013 on the SLF website.

Education Scotland, YouthLink Scotland and the Scottish Government have worked in collaboration to produce the Draft National Youth Work Strategy which sets out ambitions for ensuring young people are placed at the centre of all youth work practice.
 
 Discussion on the draft strategy will take place in January and February 2014 through a series of National Discussions across Scotland.  These discussions will involve a range of stakeholders including young people and will inform the implementation plan.  More information about the national conversations will be available in due course.
The final strategy and implementation plan will be published in April 2014.

Scottish Education Awards 2014

The Scottish Education Awards celebrate the hard work and success which takes place in Scottish education. They recognise the achievements of people who dedicate their lives to children and young people and showcase the valuable work and innovation in Scottish classrooms.

The Scottish Education Awards 2014 have officially launched and once again the event promises to be the highlight of the Scottish education calendar.

Nominations for this year’s awards are now open. To nominate, please browse through the list of nomination categories and criteria and then complete the nomination form. You may also find it helpful as part of the nomination process toread the hints and tips as well as look at an example nomination from a previous year.

Nominations close on Friday 21 February 2014.

  

Holocaust Memorial Day 2014 –  to be commemorated in Scotland on Monday 27 January.

Glow TV will be providing opportunities throughout January for you to participate in events and learn more about the Holocaust via the new Learning Experience called ‘Journeys’. You can visit the Learning Experience and tell Scottish learners what your school is doing for HMD 2014 or share your learning resources with them.

More details will be available early in the new year. In the meantime you can email LearnCat if you have any questions or information that you want to share.
